REEEEDDRUUUUUUUMM

I decided to paint my bathroom Tibetan Red today. Baaaaaaaad choice. The color looks awesome. It will be super great when I finish.

WHEN I finish.

So far, I have gone through an entire gallon of paint and will need a 2nd can tomorrow. I can't seem to make the colors even, there are streaks and lines all over the wall. There is red everywhere. Red on the baseboards, red on the floor, red on the ceiling, red on my jeans, in my hair, on Lola's kinky tail. RED EVERYWHERE!!!!

But wow, what a stunning shade of red. I feel so brave.

We did our bathroom red too. We had the primer dyed a similar color to make the covering easier. And it turned out BEAUTIFULLY...great choice for a bathroom!

Aww..poor Lolis tail!
I am sorry that it has turned out to be such a nightmare. I hope you can get it all evened out tomorrow. That sucks that you couldn't get it all accomplished today.
You will definitely need to show some pics when you are done though.

It gets better. We painted our kitchen Whipped Strawberry about 4 months ago and I remember watching as DH started and I was thinking .. wow it looks like a blood bath in here .. We called it the Helter Skelter kitchen until he got through. Now we love it :)

Hi Melissa
I LOVE red rooms. Strong colors can make rooms really stunning. We did the room that became our nursery red; it took a few coats to cover well. It did get streaky ... red is surprisingly difficult. Tinting the primer would have been a great idea if we had thought of it!! D'oh!!

I love love red rooms too. So I can go around and say, RED ROOM! RED ROOM! And waggle my finger, like the kid in the Shining.

no, really, I do like red rooms. I painted my bathroom eggplant color, but I did a shoddy job and got the damn color all over the floor and toilet, and never cleaned it up. My parents re did the bathroom for us when I was doing IVF number one (sigh) and now it's green.

GOod luck, my little painting fiend. *smooch*

The tinted primer definitly helps. We painted our second bathroom Licorice Red. It took three coats over a primer that looks like Pepto Bismol but it looks fantastic. If you didn't use a tinted primer, expect to use four coats of paint to get an even look.

What other colours ( Canadian spelling... sorry Tertia, not SA)are you planning to use? We used a off white for wainscotting and sage green for towels. Sounds odd, but it works well together.

This was my first experiment with COLOUR in my house. No more Allegro Cream in my house... bring on the colour!

ohhh, 4 coats??? Our red room I think only took 2. Interesting. 3 at the most. I used Ralph Lauren Paint at the suggestion of a friend who said it covered really well ... so far, so good. I won't say it is perfect (we did do it ourselves)but not streaky.
