Exhaustion

Effie IS better, but progressing slowly. Of course I say "better" but I have to force feed her and give her water via syringe because she won't eat on her own. It's exhausting. She doesn't like anyone messing with her face, and giving her medicine or a syringe of water/food qualifies under that category.

I have been up since 6am trying to get her to cooperate. I need sleep.. instead I have to go to Hell... I mean work. I think I will leave early today. Screw them.

Update

Well so much for better. Now she is in the kitty hospital--for the next 3 days. She needs to be on IV because she is dehydrated, weak, won't eat at all, and the ear infection is now a middle ear infection so her equilibrium is shot. I feel that this will help her recover. She needs the IV antibiotics because orally just wasn't cutting through that mess.

My poor little girl.

Thanks. I want her to be better than this though. It worries me that she won't eat on her own. I am going to try tuna and see if she snaps that up. At least that would also give her fluid.

Poor baby has the spins. You can see it when she stands up and tries to watch the room as it is obviously spinning around. It's breaking my heart.

I'm glad that your furbaby is doing a little better and will continue to keep you guys in my thoughts. We had to syringe feed our little guy when he wouldn't eat. It's so emotionally draining wanting to make them better so badly but not being able to.

I don't know if you want technical advice, but when my kitty was recouperating from his surgery, and taking medicines that made him nauseous, my vet prescribed cyproheptadine. It's an anithistamine that you can get at a people pharmacy that works as an appetite stimulant in a lot of cats. At that point my guy hadn't eaten on his own for over a week, so it was imperative that we get him eating. It worked for him.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck with it. I hope your baby's feeling better soon.

Oh, that is rough. It is so tough when you can't do anything for your babies. The spins are heartbreaking.

I will be keeping Effie in my thoughts.

Oh, honey. I am so sorry about your baby kitty. I know exactly what you are going through. I hope that all will be well with her and she is her usual healthy self again soon. I know this is the last thing you need to worry about, but she's lucky to have a good mommy. I well most certainly say a prayer for your girl.

Oh Ollie! I'm so sorry about Effie! I wish she didn't have to stay at the doctor. But it is probably best for her. I will pray for her. I will have a little talk with my 5 kitties, to think healing thoughts for their cousin Effie.

Keep us posted honey.

Oh! I know exactly what it is like to have to force feed a very sick cat! Its so so so so so hard! Emotionally!
I'm so sorry, and I hope Effie comes out of the hospital feeling much better!
I'm MY experience, putting my cat in the hospital was actually for the better. They are better equipt to handle any situation that might arise. And you KNOW the nurses are giving him extra loving!!
Get well soon Effie!!!
