Potential Good News?

In researching IVF, since that may very likely be the best option for Brad and I, I researched funding and organizations that offer the guarantee of refunds for failed cycles.

The first stop in my journey was this site, Integramed.com . Their program is the Shared Risk Program, where you pay for three cycles in advance (at a discounted rate, no less). If you take home a baby after one cycle, they keep the money (totally worth it if you ask me). But if you elect to stop treatment early or if you go through all three and the cycles don't take (no take-home baby), they refund the majority of the money you paid. Cool, eh?

The next stop, find out which IVF clinics in Atlanta participate in this fabulous dealio. I discovered that there is one clinic in AAAAALL of Atlanta that does this. I figured, "Well damn. With the luck I've been having, the referral I was given to a new RE is very likely NOT with this clinic."

The third stop was quite incredible. I looked down at the slip of paper where I'd written the name of the doctor to whom I was referred by my Ob/Gyn. I decided to look up this fella and see what kind of info I could collect. Turns out, he is one of the founding partners of the IVF clinic that participates in the Integramed refund program!!!

But wait, it gets better!!!

For the costs that you incur, plus the stuff that the plan doesn't cover (such as PGD and anesthesia), there is a finance plan.

How "HELL YEAH" is that?!

Of course, we will need to switch back to Brad's insurance since my shitola insurance doen't include the doctor in their network. But B's insurance DOES.

It may never even come to this, but I am thinking both the RE and the genetic counselor are likely going to say with my history, it is probably a genetic issue that needs to be addressed. I just like to plan ahead so that when the news comes down, I won't be floored. Ya know?

VERY Hell Yeah!

If you decide to go that route it sounds like all the ducks are falling in a row for you, the stars are aligning...or maybe there have been enough people to go before you that they laid a good path for you to follow.

Good Luck!

I love plans. Having a plan is cleansing, is it not? And your plan sounds great.

Our clinic (Shady Grove Fertility) is one of the founding members of the shared risk program (they are also aligned with Integramed) and I was very very happy with them. They are straightforward about payment. They have been working with me & my insurance to get me refunds even though it means less $ for them ... I just got my refund check from Integramed.

You also can do PGD as part of the IVF program, although it will cost you a bit more. But with your history, you'll probably make a trillion follicles and eggs, so the cost per embryo will go down.

I heard also that they (Shady Grove/Integramed) were moving to an unlimited # of cycles for shared risk ... so if you are actually up to doing 6 cycles, they'll do them. Or, encourage you to stop at 4 and give you your money back.

I'm still all about you moving to Maryland and getting this covered by insurance.

Oh, and did Brad ever do the SCSA? I'm curious.

Kick ass!!! The fact that your new RE is THE ONE in all ATL is a fantastic omen. When's your appt? :) I can't wait! I'm so excited!!!!! If I were the cheerleader type I'd do a high kick and a round off right now.

Good luck with all you're trying to do. Ynys Mon will think of you :-)

I have to ask, are you in any way the same person who designed ETM.com?

Say hi to Josh if you are.

Anyway, good luck again.

Holy crap!! Yes, MarkF, I am the friend of Josh's who did his logo and whatnot for ETM. WOW, small world eh? I will send him your salutations!

Evelin, no Brad hasn't had his SCSA yet. I imagine that will be a hot topic at our first meeting with the new RE. We just have to figure out the insurance situation first (in other words, i haven't made an appt yet--we have some time though.)

Plans!! You know I love them!

They have a clinic like that in San Fran...a bit too far for me to go to for that I think, but I can't believe that ALL clinics do not do this.
I can't wait to hear that this new RE has to say!!!!

Wait just one second, missy. Are you claiming that you just might have an issue that WORKED with regard to insurance?!! I thought that was an urban myth. You know, like implantation spotting.

Oooh, this is exciting! I'm also a compulsive planner, have the next three years all ready to go, so boy do I understand that. Must be ready for any eventuality; must construct elaborate flow chart in head.

Very happy for you, Miz Drab.
